Monster Bash V: Dead Linemen Tell no Tales, is a two day six-match resurrection style tournament. This means all players return to their starting status after each game regardless of any events which may have occurred in a preceding match. The first matchups between teams will be drawn randomly with the remainder based on the Swiss tournament format.
This year Monster Bash is a two coach Team event. To stop any confusion, within the rules we will refer to the two coach team as a "CREW", and the race the coach is fielding as a team.
Crew Points:
30 per team win
10 per team draw
0 per loss
-50 per concede
Individual points:
30 per win
10 per draw
0 per loss
-50 per concede
-1 if your roster is not provided on time
The higher ranked coaches on each Crew will play each other, based on the above scoring.
Final standings will be ranked using a system of tiebreakers in the following order:
Total Points
Strength of schedule
Net TD’s & CAS
Team Building:
Each coach is allocated 1,150,000 gold coins to spend on team building. Team building includes purchasing players, staff, rerolls, permitted inducements and dedicated fans. All normal rules for team building apply and you are required to have 11 players before adding a star player to any team. Although star players and their special rules are permitted, they are limited based on your races tier and the fact that only certain star players have shown an interest in competing in the tournament. If both you and your opponent roster the same star player, both can use that star.
All inducements from the 2025 rulebook and corresponding spike magazines are allowed except for the following exceptions::
Star Players - Morg N Thorg, Griff Oberwald, Hakflem Skuttlespike, H’thark the Unstoppable, Bomber Dribblesnot, Cindy Piewhistle, Lord Borak, Ivan the Animal Deathshroud, Jordell Freshbreeze, Skitter Stab Stab, Grak and Crumbleberry
Mercenaries
Wizards
Prayers to Nuffle
- If Riotous Rookies are hired they are rolled before each match, please ensure you have painted miniatures for the extra journeymen, which can be identified as the rookies.
Please note that these rules are subject to change and can be changed based on new information throughout the year based on 2025 rules.
Mascot:
As is tradition at Monster Bash each coach gets a free monster to join their squad, maybe scare the opposing coach and hopefully add some luck to the proceedings. This monster takes the form of a mascot (rules for a “Team Mascot” are located on page 144 of the Season 3 rule book) for the entirety of the tournament. The monster mascot is free and does not count towards team value for the purpose of team building. You must provide a painted model to represent your mascot. This year the mascots are to have a nautical/Pirate theme.
As the coaches are in Crews there are additional rules surrounding the mascots. As there are two mascots on each crew, a single coach can use both mascots together. This takes the D6 roll for a successful mascot from a 4+ to a 2+ (Natural 1 will always fails). However should you choose to do this both mascots are lost for that half. The decision to use both mascots must be made by both coaches on the crew agreeing before the roll is made.
Example:- Shipaz is looking to score however he rolled a 1 on the dodge. He has no rerolls as they were stolen by a chef however he does have his mascot. His teammate TheCowDaddy also has his mascot. Leaning over he explains the situation and TheCowDaddy agrees to give up his mascot to give Shipaz a better chance of the reroll and the score. As both mascots are being used, both Shipaz and TheCowDaddy remove them from play for this half and Shipaz rolls to see if he can use the mascot reroll. He rolls a 3. Meaning he gets to reroll the dodge with the mascot reroll. Huzzah!! He of course then rolls another one for the dodge and team BBNE1 cry.
Upgrades:
The amount available for upgrades and the amount of stars you can hire depends on your races tier:
Treasure Chests:
The skill allowance for each Crew is split into different ‘Treasure Chests’, which Chests are available is dependent on the Crews ‘Crew Points’.
Crew Points are the total of the two teams tiers added together (so Amazon tier 1 and Slann tier 4 gives you 5 crew points) you then spend these crew points to buy treasure chests of skills which both coaches share.
Chest A (Available to all) – 10 Primary skills – 4 Elite Skills Max
Chest B (4+ crew points pts and over only) – 8 Primary Skills, 1 Secondary skill – 4 Elite Skills Max
Chest C (7+ crew points pts and over only) – 12 Primary Skills, 2 Secondary Skills – 4 Elite Skills Max
Chest D (7+ crew points pts and over only) – 10 primary skills, 1 secondary and 1 stat increase – 4 Elite Skills Max
Chest E (9+ crew points pts and over only) – 12 Primary Skills, 4 Secondary skill – 6 Elite Skills Max
Chest F (9+ crew points pts and over only) – 10 primary skills, 3 secondary and 1 stat increase – 6 Elite Skills Max
Chest G (11+ crew points pts and over only) – 12 Primary Skills, 6 Secondary skill – 8 Elite Skills Max
Chest H (11+ crew points pts and over only) – 10 primary skills, 5 secondary and 1 stat increases – 8 Elite Skills Max
Chest I (11+ crew points pts and over only) – 10 primary skills, 4 secondary and 2 stat increases – 8 Elite Skills Max
All skills are chosen and are not allowed to be random.
Only tier 5 & 6 teams have access to stat increases, however you can only choose to take a stat increase at the cost of a star player spot. For example a Halfling coach could take two star players or one star player and one stat increase or two stat increases only (depending on chosen chest). They can’t take two stars and two increases.
Stacking is not allowed and all players can only have one skill increase regardless of tier. (including stat increases)
All crews can share their skill allowance as they see fit as long as they follow this rule, “Neither team can have more than 2 skills more than the other team on their crew. For this purpose primary skills equal 1 skill, secondary and stat increases equal 2.
Secondary skills may be used as primaries but primaries cannot be used as secondary skills.
No team can have more than 4 Elite skills. For example, if you take chest F which will give you access to 6 Elite skills, you can have team A with 4, team B with 2 or Team A with 3 and Team B with 3, you can’t have Team A with 5 and Team B with 1. You do not have to take your full allowance of elite skills if you do not want to.
Please note that these rules are subject to change and can be changed based on new information throughout the year based on Season3/2025 rules.
Providing Your Roster:
Your Roster will need to be provided by 20th November 2026, we are currently hoping to use Tourplay. This will be confirmed closer to the date.
Additional Tournament Rules:
The normal weather table will be replaced by the COASTAL WEATHER TABLE for the games played in this event.
If your opponent wishes to use a chess clock then you must adhere to the following rules.
The remaining time of the current round is divided between both coaches and is allotted equally.
Time/turn will be passed to you whenever it is your turn to do something. This includes kick off and setting up. This also includes moving a piece for sidestep, choosing to use and apo for example. As a rule of thumb if you are making a decision or moving a piece your time should be running.
Any breaks you take come out of your time. Such as toilet or refreshment breaks. The clock is not paused.
If your time runs out then the only actions you are allowed to complete on your turn, are to stand your players up. That is all. Anything else is not allowed.
Rosters do not need to be checked during the event. They are checked beforehand. If however you are worried your opponent is not fielding their rostered team, do not look to confirm it yourself, it is not your place to do so. Please grab a TO and we will check it to the rosters we have already checked.
Stunty Cup is open to: Gnomes, Goblins, Halflings, Ogres, Snotlings, as well as Black Orcs (No Black Orcs), Lizards (no Saurus), Underworld (No Skaven).
LATE ARRIVALS: Should you arrive for your match later than 10 minutes, a chess clock will be provided and your time will be running. This is so your opponent is not penalised due to your lateness.
